Roots and Wings
2016-2019
Roots & Wings provides an intensive, life-changing program to former foster youth, focusing on the importance of education and the development of critically necessary life skills, in order to empower them toward self-sufficiency.
Aged-out foster youth are among the most underserved, disconnected, and statistically vulnerable segment of our society. They often lack consistent family support, positive adult role models, and stable housing. Roots & Wings’ comprehensive approach teaches responsibility, directs focus on the client’s future and potential, and addresses emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues.
Arbor Rising partnered with the Roots & Wings management team on a number of key deliverables, including:
Financial Model — to monitor fundraising progress, create multiyear budget projections, and track key programmatic outcomes
Growth Planning — financial and operational support for adding new housing facilities
Performance Management System — establishing roles, goals, and accountability targets for staff
Board Management – tools and standards for recruiting, managing, and engaging the organization’s board of directors
